Calgary Stampeders running back Tyreik McAllister became the first player in CFL history to score a rushing, receiving, and kick-return touchdown in the same game, leading his team to a 52-30 victory over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Friday night in Winnipeg.

The 28-year-old McAllister opened the scoring with a 17-yard run, caught a 56-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Vernon Adams Jr., and returned a missed field goal 118 yards for a major—an unprecedented trifecta in league history. The Stampeders (3-4) snapped a two-game losing streak, while the Blue Bombers (4-3) saw their three-game win streak end.

McAllister’s Historic Night Shakes Up CFL Record Books

McAllister’s three-touchdown performance places him in elite company. According to the CFL, he is only the third player ever to score in three distinct ways in a single game, joining Earl Winfield (1988) and James Jefferson (1987).

“They told me at the end of the game and I was like, ‘Wow, that’s crazy,’” McAllister said post-game. “I’m just grateful for my coaches and my teammates for putting me in a position to make those plays.”

Stampeders head coach Dave Dickenson praised McAllister’s versatility, noting the team had planned to give him more touches. “We knew he was good and we actually wanted to give him more run plays,” Dickenson said.

Adams Extends Interception-Free Streak as Calgary Dominates

Quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. continued his historic start to the season, throwing 18-of-27 for 319 yards and three touchdowns without an interception. His 20 passing touchdowns to open the season set a new CFL record, tying Dickenson’s single-season mark for most scores without a pick.

Adams now has 269 consecutive pass attempts without an interception, dating back to last season. “It’s an awesome feeling, but we just want to get some wins,” Adams said. “That’s it, man. I just want to win some football games.”

Calgary’s offense racked up 387 net yards, with Jalen Philpot (four catches, 128 yards, one TD) and Tevin Jones (one TD) contributing key plays. Winnipeg’s Dru Brown threw for 249 yards and one touchdown but was intercepted four times, while Brady Oliveira rushed for 128 yards and two scores in the loss.

What’s Next for Both Teams

The Stampeders will travel to Hamilton to face the Tiger-Cats on Saturday, August 1. Winnipeg, meanwhile, will look to rebound from its first loss in four games as it continues its push for a playoff spot.

“Our focus was coming out fast and I think we did that,” McAllister said. “We wanted to pride ourselves on playing the whole 60 minutes.”
