Data security company Cyera has entered into a letter of intent to acquire Oasis Security for approximately $1 billion, a move aimed at enhancing protection for the rapidly expanding landscape of AI agents.

Bolstering AI Agent Cybersecurity

The acquisition is expected to be largely funded with cash, supplemented by Cyera shares. Oasis Security specialises in securing non-human identities, with a particular focus on AI agents. As the deployment of AI agents accelerates, businesses face a growing need for cybersecurity solutions that can monitor their activities and manage their access privileges to other software systems.

Oasis Security, established in 2022, has secured significant backing, raising approximately $195 million from investors including Accel, Craft Ventures, and Cyberstarts.

Market Trends in AI Security

This deal underscores a robust and expanding market for cybersecurity providers addressing the unique challenges posed by AI-driven threats. The integration of Oasis's technology is intended to create a unified platform for identity and data security within Cyera.

Cyera itself has seen substantial growth, recently reporting over $150 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR). However, the five-year-old company, which has raised roughly $2.3 billion in total funding, has not yet reached profitability. Cyera has been active in acquisitions, previously acquiring Ryft and Genie Security.

Following the close of the transaction, Cyera plans to integrate Oasis’s offerings into its existing platform. Investors Accel and Cyberstarts are common to both companies.
