London's European Technology Network (ETN) is expanding its live daily broadcast schedule to five days a week, launching June 27, to keep pace with Europe's accelerating technology and venture capital landscape. The network, which previously aired twice weekly, has secured $1.6 million in seed funding to fuel this significant expansion.

European Technology Network Secures Seed Funding

Launched last October by Luke Knight and Ronan Chambers, ETN initially focused on a twice-weekly live stream of tech trends and news. The show, broadcast on X and YouTube, has already amassed over 5 million views.

The recent $1.6 million seed investment comes from prominent players in the media and tech sectors, including Powerhouse Capital, Axel Springer SE (owner of Business Insider and Politico), a co-founder of LadBible, and angel investors from OpenAI and DeepMind.

ETN Expands Operations and Team

This fresh capital will support a major expansion for ETN. The network is moving into a larger studio in London's Kings Cross district, a hub for AI startups, and is actively growing its team from its current size of eight. A new newsletter is also being launched as part of the expansion.

The expanded live show will feature interviews with notable figures in technology and politics. Scheduled guests include George Robson, a partner at Sequoia Capital, and Rishi Sunak, former UK Prime Minister and senior advisor to Anthropic and Microsoft.

Addressing the Pace of European Tech Innovation

Knight and Chambers told TechCrunch that ETN has become a key stop for European startups on their press tours. The show has hosted interviews with founders from Synthesia and Granola, the CFO of Legora, and Kanishka Narayan, the UK's first AI Minister. American investors, including those from Andreessen Horowitz, have also appeared when visiting London.

Ronan Chambers described ETN's origin as filling a "gaping hole in the industry" where the pace of media coverage lagged behind the speed of the tech scene. He cited Dealroom data indicating London startups have raised $14.7 billion this year alone. Six companies have each raised over $500 million, including Wayve, Superintelligence, ElevenLabs, Recursive, Ineffable Intelligence, and Isomorphic Labs, the latter three founded by DeepMind alumni.

"These are things that have never happened in Europe before," Chambers noted regarding the rapid flow of capital. The demand for guest spots was substantial, with the team receiving approximately 70 pitches weekly. The transition to a five-day schedule is a direct response to this high interest and the rapid evolution of Europe's tech ecosystem.

Content and Future of the Live Show

The five-day live show will run daily from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. UK time, covering trending stories. An additional two hours will be dedicated to guest interviews, with plans to introduce debates, roundtables, and a Shark Tank-style pitching session.

Chambers stated the aim is to make the show as useful as possible for the ecosystem, fostering more discourse around AI, venture capital, and emerging technologies in Europe. ETN positions itself as a platform for companies to highlight their achievements.

The network generates revenue through advertising, with sponsors including prediction market Polymarket, blockchain company Base, and AI audio company ElevenLabs.

Knight and Chambers acknowledge the influence of TBPN founders John Coogan and Jordi Hays, describing them as pioneers of the new tech media landscape. They see ETN as a regional counterpart to platforms like ITV and BBC, but focused on technology.

While reporting from London, ETN is committed to featuring guests from across the continent, recognizing the diverse technological innovations emerging from more than 40 European countries. The network has broadcast from events such as the Panathenaea Conference in Athens and the RAISE AI Summit in Paris.

The duo maintains a global outlook, welcoming American founders and viewing their work as supporting global prosperity. Knight stated, "We are globally optimistic." They do not see themselves as traditional journalists but as tech insiders documenting the industry's evolution and collaborating with established media outlets.

ETN's ultimate goal is to document the success stories of a new generation of European tech companies, from London to Stockholm, inspiring future entrepreneurs to pursue startup ventures as a path for national progress. Chambers commented, "It riles up the next generation to the point where it’s no longer cool to finish university and go into banking or consulting. People want to leave university and go straight into building a startup, and I think that’s an amazing thing."
