Four men in their 20s died in the early hours of Friday after a car collided with a lamppost in Huyton, Merseyside. A fifth passenger sustained injuries and was transported to a hospital.

The incident occurred just before 2 a.m. when a black Seat Cupra veered off the road. The crash prompted a significant emergency response in the Huyton area.
Three of the deceased were aged 23. A fourth man was 26. Their next of kin have been notified. The fifth passenger, a 27-year-old, is in stable condition.
Extensive Road Closures and Investigation
Merseyside Police have closed 11 roads as part of the ongoing investigation into the fatal car crash. A temporary flight restriction zone for drones has also been established above the scene.
The police cordon is extensive, and closures are expected to remain in place throughout the weekend. Forensic tents and debris were visible at the site.
One eyewitness described waking to "carnage," stating the vehicle "split in two" with parts scattered across the road. This indicates the high speed and force of the impact.
Police Appeal for Information
Superintendent Paul Holden stated that the priority is to determine how the collision occurred. He appealed to the public for any information.
Police are asking for witnesses who may have seen the black Seat Cupra or the incident itself before 2 a.m. to come forward. Residents with doorbell camera footage are also encouraged to contact the force.
Specially trained family liaison officers are supporting the families of the deceased. The community has expressed dismay and sympathy for the victims and their loved ones.
