Vice-presidential couple JD Vance and Usha Vance have released the first formal photographs of their family of six, including their newborn son Alec, born July 19.
For context: Alec Vance is the first child born to a sitting U.S. vice-president since 1870, when Schuyler Colfax’s son was delivered during his term.
Candid moments from the Naval Observatory
The three images, posted online Friday, were taken inside the vice-presidential residence at the Naval Observatory in Washington. One shows the four children—Ewan, 9; Vivek, 6; Mirabel, 4; and Alec—squirming on a sofa as the family attempts a posed photograph. A second image offers a close-up of Alec asleep.
“Enjoy these attempts at taking a decent family photo with four kids!” Usha Vance wrote in the caption. “Thank you for all the good wishes as we settle into life as a family of six.”
