Australian startups have until July 20, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. AEST to apply for the Stripe x Startup Battlefield pitch competition in Sydney. Eight finalists will present live on August 19, with the grand prize winner securing automatic entry to TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco.

What is Stripe x Startup Battlefield?

Startup Battlefield is TechCrunch’s flagship pitch competition, which has launched companies like Dropbox, Cloudflare, and Discord. The Stripe partnership brings the event to Sydney for the first time, offering Australian founders a chance to compete for:

  • $15,000 in Stripe fee credits + guaranteed spot at TechCrunch Disrupt 2026 (October 13–15)
  • $5,000 in Stripe fee credits (second place)
  • $2,000 in Stripe fee credits (third place)

All applicants receive free registration to Stripe Tour Sydney on August 19.

Who should apply?

Judges prioritize promising startups over polished ones, asking: Does this change something? Key criteria include a working MVP (revenue and customers are not required). Past applicants are encouraged to reapply—previous rejections carry no weight.

How to strengthen your application

Applicants must submit a video demonstrating their real, working product—not mockups or pitch decks. Clear, honest submissions outperform overproduced ones. Founders should also:

  • Name competitors and explain their edge
  • Highlight their founding story and market insight

The deadline is final. No extensions or waitlists will be offered.
