Nine people were killed and 62 injured in a Ukrainian drone strike on two warehouses belonging to Wildberries, Russia’s largest online retailer, according to Russian officials. The attacks occurred overnight in Kotovsk (Tambov region) and Elektrostal (Moscow region), targeting logistics hubs deep inside Russian territory.
Drone strikes hit Russian logistics and oil infrastructure
Russian authorities reported additional damage from falling drone debris, which sparked a fire at an oil depot in Noginsk, injuring two and prompting the evacuation of a nearby maternity hospital. Governor Andrei Vorobyov did not specify the extent of the damage to the facility.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky claimed Ukraine’s Security Service destroyed a Russian Tu-95 strategic bomber at Engels air base in Saratov Oblast, nearly 500 miles inside Russia. Zelensky also stated that Ukraine targeted two Russian logistics facilities in the Moscow and Tambov regions, alleging they supplied sanctioned components for drone production.
UK tests new long-range strike weapons for Ukraine
Britain has tested new long-range strike weapons under Project Brakestop, aiming to deliver them to Ukraine within months. The munitions, designed to replace Storm Shadow missiles, feature a 500km range, 225kg warhead, and speeds exceeding 600km/h. Initial trials involved three suppliers: MBDA UK, MGI Engineering, and Rotron Aerospace.
Protests in Kyiv over defence minister’s dismissal
Thousands gathered in Kyiv to demand the reinstatement of sacked Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, a 35-year-old tech specialist credited with boosting Ukraine’s drone capabilities and disrupting Russian Starlink access. Parliament is set to vote on his replacement, Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian prosecutors released surveillance footage of a parcel bomb attack on tycoon Vadym Iermolaiev in Monaco, which left him critically injured. A suspect, a Ukrainian woman, was later found dead near Kyiv.
