A violent brawl erupted in New York City’s East Village after a skateboarder and a Mercedes driver clashed over a prime parking spot on St. Marks Place near Second Avenue at approximately 3:50 p.m. on Tuesday, police sources confirmed.
Viral Video Captures East Village Parking Dispute
The altercation began when the skateboarder and a companion were holding the coveted spot for another person. A 34-year-old motorist attempted to pull into the space, prompting the skateboarder to strike the SUV’s side window with his board before throwing it at the vehicle, as shown in footage posted on X.
The driver exited the Mercedes and chased the skateboarder, seizing the board and attempting to strike him outside Mamoun’s Falafel. The skateboarder regained control of the board, used it to hit the driver over the head, and placed him in a standing chokehold, the video reveals. The SUV’s front windshield was also smashed during the confrontation.
Aftermath and NYPD Investigation
The skateboarder fled the scene, while the driver was transported to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition. As of Saturday afternoon, no arrests had been made, with police continuing their search for the skateboarder.
An NYPD spokesman confirmed the driver had been attempting to park in the disputed spot.
