Alberta NDP Leader Naheed Nenshi attended the annual Jewish community reception at the Calgary Stampede on July 3, engaging with attendees including business and political leaders.
The Calgary Stampede is widely known for rodeo events and cultural celebrations, but it also serves as Canada’s largest networking platform for business, policy, and diplomacy. Hundreds of events are hosted by organizations, political parties, and industry groups over 10 days.

Politicians from all levels of government and major parties attend the Jewish community reception, not to endorse every position of the host but to engage with Albertans as part of public life.
During the reception, Nenshi spoke with Rick Ekstein, recalling their past interactions. Ekstein, formerly on the board of CIJA, noted that Nenshi remembered meeting him despite not recalling his name. Nenshi confirmed he genuinely remembered Ekstein and asked about his current work.
