Two boys remain missing after being swept into fast-moving rapids at Whiteshell Provincial Park in Manitoba, according to authorities. The incident occurred near Sturgeon Falls Trail at Nutimik Lake, approximately 90 minutes east of Winnipeg, at around 12:40 p.m. on Saturday.
Search Efforts Underway at Nutimik Lake
RCMP launched a multi-agency response, including water, land, and aerial patrols, after receiving reports of a possible drowning. Upon arrival, officers confirmed that two boys—ages 10 and 13—had fallen into the rapids. Local fire, EMS, and Manitoba Conservation Service personnel assisted in the initial response.
Specialized Teams Join the Rescue
Manitoba RCMP’s underwater recovery team and the Hutterian Emergency Aquatic Response Team (HEART) were deployed to aid in the search. As of Sunday afternoon, authorities reported that neither child had been located despite extensive efforts along the shorelines and waterways.
RCMP and HEART teams will continue operations at the scene as the search for the missing boys persists.
