Pamela Anderson has confirmed she has "no plans" to return for Fox’s upcoming Baywatch reboot, prioritising new creative challenges over revisiting the role that defined her early career. The actress, who played fan-favourite lifeguard CJ Parker from 1992 to 1997, told Deadline she remains focused on projects that push boundaries rather than reprising familiar territory.
Anderson’s Stance on the Baywatch Reboot
Speaking to the outlet, Anderson acknowledged the franchise’s cultural impact but made clear her decision is not rooted in negative experiences. "It was a great job, and I loved going to work every day on the beach," she said, adding that her time on the original series provided "worldwide exposure" and shaped her career. However, she expressed no interest in returning, even if her sons—who were reportedly in early discussions about producing the reboot—had been involved.
Anderson’s comments come as Fox progresses with a new iteration of Baywatch, which centres on Hobie Buchannon (Stephen Amell), the son of original lead Mitch Buchannon (David Hasselhoff). The series, currently filming, introduces a fresh cast including Shay Mitchell, Jessica Belkin, and original stars David Chokachi and Erika Eleniak in reprisal roles. Showrunner Matt Nix, known for Burn Notice, is leading the project alongside executive producers McG and Dante Di Loreto.
What’s Next for Anderson and the Franchise
The actress, whose Golden Globe-nominated performance in The Last Showgirl earned critical acclaim, indicated she is exploring "bold choices" in her next roles. "I want to surprise people. I want to surprise myself," she said, hinting at potential theatre projects and other creative avenues. Meanwhile, the Baywatch reboot is set to premiere in 2025, with no further word on whether additional original cast members will appear.
For fans of the franchise, the new series marks the first major revival since the 2017 film adaptation, which briefly reunited Anderson with the property.
