Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan were arrested in Miami on Saturday, with U.S. Marshals confirming the detention as British authorities seek their extradition to face charges of rape, sex trafficking, and assault.
For context, the Tate brothers—self-professed misogynist influencer Andrew, 39, and his younger sibling—were taken into custody under a sealed arrest warrant, meaning specific charges were not immediately disclosed. Video footage from U.S. outlet TMZ showed law enforcement escorting the men in handcuffs, with Tristan Tate declining to comment when prompted by onlookers.
UK prosecutors pursue extradition over new allegations
The UK Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) announced it will prosecute the Tates for additional offences, including rape, arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation, and offences tied to indecent images of a child. Malcolm McHaffie, head of the CPS Special Crime Division, stated that the decision follows new evidence from Bedfordshire Police, bringing the total number of alleged victims to seven.
Earlier this year, Hertfordshire Police reopened an investigation into rape and sexual assault allegations against Andrew Tate dating back to 2014–2015. Separately, Bedfordshire Police—which covers the Tates’ hometown of Luton—are probing other rape and human trafficking claims. The brothers also face UK accusations of tax evasion and money laundering.
